For the Days You Forget How to Slow Down (The Audio That Always Brings Me Back)

I admit it: I’m a (recovering) workaholic.

One of the biggest things I’ve been working on in my personal development journey is the deep connection with my feelings.

In my corporate career I spent a lot of energy on managing my feelings.
Because back then there was no space for feelings at the workplace.
If you want a career, you better don’t cry.

I thought I was managing my feelings.
What I was really doing, though, was suppressing them.
But I didn’t realize that back then.

As a consequence, I had a hard time connecting with my inner world.
And since I’m all about the dance of both, the masculine and the feminine within us and creating a whole-body-yes for what we do,
learning to connect with that part of me was crucial.

Years ago, I’ve been sent this audio. And it was my entry into that beautiful world.

And I’d love to share that audio with you – in case you could use a guide to slowing down as well.

I have listened to it many many times and it played a crucial role for my journey.

You can find it on soundcloud here.

It’s called Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me by LiveAwake.

I remember exactly the first time I pressed play.
The gentle music and calm voice…
And then these words:

“I wish someone had told me, when I first began my journey to a life of my own,
that where I needed to begin was sitting on the floor with my eyes closed.
I wish someone had told me that my first step, the first step anyone must take, is inward.”

Mmmmhm.. I can’t stop smiling.

And while I’m not someone who meditates every day or burns incense,
that audio was one of the first things that taught me how to pause.
How to just be with myself.

And I come back to it whenever it calls me.

Listening feels like being taken by the hand and guided inward
without needing to do anything about it.

So if you’ve been running fast lately,
if your brain’s full and your shoulders are tight,
this might be something that calls you today, too.

It’s twelve minutes of beautiful guidance.
And it never fails to bring me back 💛
